Brighton Pride GO.GO womens tent.

Saturday was the much awaited Brighton Pride. I was really excited to be back working with GOGO to help run backstage as well DJ myself which I was very honoured to be asked to do.
I arrived at 10am so I was pretty exhausted as id been DJ-ing the night before but the excitement of the coming days events acted as a natural pro plus!
The sun was shining at this early start so things were looking up for a beautiful day. I had a little wonder around the park before guests arrived and I must say I was really impressed. There has been negativity towards the fact that this year you had to purchase a ticket for the events at Preston Park but after having a wander around the park it was clear that the price you had to pay for the event was well and truly worth it.

The woman's tent was fantastically situated opposite the main stage and all the shops so you could do a bit of shopping, see what was happening around you and be right in the center of the buzz.
To kick the day off the wonderful Amity took to the stage. Amity has such a fantastic voice and a beautiful stage presence and was a perfect opener for the days events.
The first act of the day always has a hard job due to the fact that its still quite early and on this occasion the parade was still taking place. Despite this though she attracted crowds from outside and they came into the tent to see her perform her lyrically beautiful songs as well as a great cover of MIA's 'Paper Planes', bearing in mind she is a solo artist she played her guitar as well as a drum and a tambourine.. a women of many talents.
The Cut Outs followed Amity with a slightly rockier performance and really got the crowds feet tapping. JOAN ov ARC followed on perfectly with their strong rock influences too. The Jess Gardham Band and lesbian favorite Greymatter also did brilliant sets and they really showcased the high standard of talent a lot of female acts have to give.
By this point the women were flocking into the tent and the sun was shining down and people were ready to well and truly party.
It was then my go to DJ, I was very nervous as I was covering the slot that should have been Christina Novelli so I was concerned that a break in live music straight to a DJ would possibly kill the crowd.
I was warming up for Kelly Pepper who does quite up beat dance music so I had to bear this in mind. With crowd pleasers like Magnetic Man and some funky remixes the crowd stayed put and were so amazing. I finished this set with the highest amount of adrenaline and was raring to get back on the stage.
Kelly Pepper got the crowd really going and marked the way for follower Katherine Ellis who was the final act of the day. Katherine Ellis has some classic songs and if you have never heard of her name then I can guarantee you will know at least one of her songs. She has amazing energy and knows how to work an audience.
She introduced me to the audience which was incredibly flattering and this really boosted my confidence.
I can safely say the next hour was one of the highlights of my life, the crowd were so amazing and I could not have asked for a better response. People were so kind and people had a lot of thanks and positive notes about my set which meant the world to me.
Thankyou for all the girls at GO.GO who gave me the chance to play as well as thanks to the audience for being so wonderful.
There are pictures to follow so I will put them up on here as soon as they are available.
