So many stories in the press today talk about what would he be doing now? I don't anyone can ever know the real answer but I truly believe in my heart he would still be performing and that Queen would continue to do concerts as well as solo projects. Freddie's voice was so powerful and strong you just know even at the older age of 65 he would still be able to belt out a stunning piece of music.
The 24th November will mark twenty years of his death and I am going to a gig in aid of his memory, I am so excited about this and it will be so special as it allows fans to gather and remember him.
As a tribute to him I've decided to do a run down of my top five Queen songs.
1.
'Death on two legs'
Death on two legs is a song from my favorite Queen album 'A Night At The Opera'. It is such a powerful song and Brian May tells how passionately Freddie sung this song to the point his veins were popping out of his head he was singing so hard.
2
'Heaven for everyone'
This is the first Queen song I ever heard and the second I did I was fixated. I cannot find the original video but it was done in black and white and had cherubs on moons and was a very heavenly piece of visual. It just hit a chord with me and that second onwards I had my dads Queen records out at the ready and I was forever in love.
3.
'39'
This is one of the most stunning songs I have ever heard and when I was lucky enough to see Queen reform a few years ago Brian May performed this and it sent chills down my spine. The whole audience sang along and as the sun begun to set it was such a special magical atmosphere.
4.
'Days of our lives'
This is possibly one of the most heart breaking videos in history. This was one of the last pieces of footage of Freddie alive and as it is very clear he is painfully ill. The lyrics and meanings in this song are beyond words and in a funny way this was Freddie saying goodbye which is what makes this song even more special.
5.
'Scandal'
I thought Id perk my list up a bit as Ive chosen quite a few slow Queen songs. Scandal is just simply a catchy song that always makes me smile with is memorable chorus and fun retro video.
I actually could go on and on and list hundreds of songs that are not just fun and amazing but also touching and have meant a lot to me in hard times.
If your main knowledge of Queen songs are 'We are the champions' and 'We will rock you' then here are some tracks you should check out :)
